QUANTUM THREAT INTELLIGENCE

NRC Launches Quantum Safe Technologies Initiative (2026 to 2028) for Canada's Critical Sectors

The National Research Council's Quantum Safe Technologies Initiative runs from 2026 to 2028 to develop and test post-quantum cryptography applications, evaluation frameworks and quantum-safe communication systems for defence, finance, telecommunications, health and transportation. Government, academic and industry experts can collaborate with the NRC, and grant and contribution funding is available to eligible collaborators through the program office. For Canadian infrastructure operators it is a federal signal that quantum-safe migration is a national program, not a vendor pitch, and a possible funding path for pilots.

Why this matters for your infrastructure

Every advance in quantum computing shortens the window for migrating long lived infrastructure off quantum-vulnerable encryption, and data captured today can be decrypted later. Fabric Networks helps energy, government, telecom and community networks move to quantum-safe encryption on their own timeline, not an adversary's.
