QUANTUM THREAT INTELLIGENCE
On World Water Day 2026 the Canada Water Agency, under Environment and Climate Change Minister Julie Dabrusin, launched development of Canada's first National Water Security Strategy, backed by $650 million over ten years through the Freshwater Action Plan and built with provinces, territories, municipalities and Indigenous partners. The release names aging critical water infrastructure as a challenge and invites public input through a survey on the strategy page, with engagement timelines to follow. Water is one of the ten critical infrastructure sectors in Canada's national strategy, and the control and telemetry systems that run treatment plants and distribution networks carry the same encryption exposure as energy and telecom, so operators should expect cyber resilience to enter the conversation as the strategy takes shape.
Every advance in quantum computing shortens the window for migrating long lived infrastructure off quantum-vulnerable encryption, and data captured today can be decrypted later. Fabric Networks helps energy, government, telecom and community networks move to quantum-safe encryption on their own timeline, not an adversary's.
