AV26-1065: Advantech ADAM-3600 Remote Terminal Units Need Firmware 2.8.5.0 or Later

The Cyber Centre published control systems advisory AV26-1065 on October 20, 2026 for vulnerabilities in the Advantech ADAM-3600, an intelligent remote terminal unit used in water, oil and gas and power distribution telemetry, with fixes in firmware 2.8.5.0. RTUs are long lived, remote and rarely patched, and the ones in a Canadian utility's field network often predate any cryptographic protection on their links. Schedule the firmware update and record where every unit sits and what it talks to.

Why this matters for your infrastructure

Every advance in quantum computing shortens the window for migrating long lived infrastructure off quantum-vulnerable encryption, and data captured today can be decrypted later. Fabric Networks helps energy, government, telecom and community networks move to quantum-safe encryption on their own timeline, not an adversary's.
