NIST Sets 2035 Deadline: All Federal Systems Must Be Quantum-Safe

NIST IR 8547 sets out the transition to post-quantum cryptography, deprecating quantum-vulnerable algorithms by 2030 and disallowing them by 2035 for US federal systems. Canadian guidance follows the same horizon, so 2035 is the practical end date for RSA and elliptic curve cryptography in regulated infrastructure.

Why this matters for your infrastructure

Every advance in quantum computing shortens the window for migrating long lived infrastructure off quantum-vulnerable encryption, and data captured today can be decrypted later. Fabric Networks helps energy, government, telecom and community networks move to quantum-safe encryption on their own timeline, not an adversary's.
