QUANTUM THREAT INTELLIGENCE
IrelandQCI reported its first government use case on September 30, 2026: a demonstration of quantum-secure communication between two Dublin City Council buildings over the council's own fibre network, combining quantum and classical security layers. The project, co-funded by the European Commission and Ireland's Department of Culture, Communications and Sport at about 10 million euros, is building a quantum key distribution network linking Dublin, Waterford and Cork. It is a demonstration rather than a production service, but it shows a municipality protecting its own links on infrastructure it already owns, which is the same position many Canadian cities and community networks are in.
Every advance in quantum computing shortens the window for migrating long lived infrastructure off quantum-vulnerable encryption, and data captured today can be decrypted later. Fabric Networks helps energy, government, telecom and community networks move to quantum-safe encryption on their own timeline, not an adversary's.
