QUANTUM THREAT INTELLIGENCE
Cloudflare announced on September 29, 2026 that it intends to become a public certificate authority and says it will issue post-quantum Merkle Tree Certificates, targeting early 2027 for inclusion in Chrome's Quantum-resistant Root Store; it is not issuing certificates yet. These are company plans, but they put a date on quantum-safe authentication for the public web. Private networks will not follow automatically: internal certificate authorities, VPN gateways and device certificates still need their own inventory and plan.
